About Lady Zen

Voice, story, presence.

Lady Zen portrait

Lady Zen (they/them/she/her) is an internationally acclaimed Fulbright mezzo-soprano, poet, librettist, and actor whose work lives at the intersection of voice, story, and truth.

Known for their genre-defying style — Lyric Fusion Poetics — Lady Zen weaves together opera, jazz, rhythm, and spoken word into something entirely their own. Their performances do not just entertain, they move, carrying audiences across memory, identity, longing, and liberation.

Based in Mexico and recognized globally, Lady Zen has composed for Marin Shakespeare Company, performed on international stages, and collaborated with Grammy Award–winning artists. Their multi-award-winning biopic, directed by Jon Tracy, continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.

As a queer artist, Lady Zen’s work is rooted in resilience, originality, and unapologetic presence. Whether on stage, screen, or page, they create spaces where people feel something real — and remember it.
